An official launch ceremony of the reconstructed facility took place on September 8, 2023 in Minsk. The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich, the representatives of the Minsk City Executive Committee, RICO d.o.o., and RUE Belenergosetprojekt took part in the ceremony.
The reconstruction of the substation has been performed, as the main substation equipment had been worn out, and there also was the necessary to increase power supply in the south-east of Minsk: to the newly built Serebryanka and Loshitsa residential areas with the community facilities, to the City Women’s Hospital – a socially significant consumer, to the republican industry consumer Kamvolny Kombinat, OJSC (worsted integrated works), and other consumers.
The top-notch equipment has been installed at the Kamvolny Kombinat 110 kV substation. Listed among others are a 110 kV gas-insulated switchgear, two 40 MVA power transformers, a 10 kV closed switchgear with digital protection devices of the vacuum circuit breakers and other types of equipment that allow for minimizing the substation building size and increasing personnel safety.
As this facility is a closed substation, its main peculiarity is the location of all equipment inside the building. On the ground floor of the building there are a 110 kV gas-insulated switchgear, a 10 kV indoor switchgear, T-1, T-2 transformers, auxiliary transformers. On the first floor there are relay protection and automation equipment, a DC switchboard, communication equipment, and the premises for the operating personnel.
Slovenian company RICO d.o.o. was the general contractor of the project. The design was carried out by RUE Belenergosetprojekt.
