Modern development aspects of 35 kV and higher overhead power transmission lines

“Overhead power transmission lines of 35 kV and higher: modern aspects of development” a seminar sponsored by SPA Belenergo was hosted on 12-14 December, 2018 at the venue of RUE Belenergosetprojekt. It was aimed at the specialists who design, construct, maintain 35-750 kV overhead power transmission lines (OHTL) and educate the specialists for the energy system of Belarus.

The seminar was held for the third time and collected more participants than two previous times. Among the participants there were the representatives of the Republican Unitary Enterprises of regional energy systems, PAO Rosseti (The center of technical control),  specialists in design from Belarus and abroad (SPb affiliate of OOO TeleSvyas, OOO PO Energozhelezobetoninvest, AO Lengidroprojekt, GK Russian SAPR Engineering and other), the manufacturers of the supports for OHTL and the cable-wire products (OOO Saranskkabel – Optika, OOO Central Trade House – GK ELSI, etc.).

The issues of special interest were tackled about at the seminar.

The Head of the Power Transmission Lines department – Guk M.E. opened R&D part of the seminar with his report “Implementing digital technologies in the design, construction and operation of 35 kV and higher OHTL: electronic passport, BIM technologies, implementation of BLOCKCHAIN technology”.

A number of reports on different issues of OHTL design and operation, including the design of 6-750 kV power lines that uses SAPR LEP, an electronic passport of OHTL for the operating organisations; problematic issues of work organisation on OHTL of 35 kV and higher under the induced voltage; the experience of use of the protected (covered) wires on 35 kV OHTL in RUE Gomelenergo; the design of 35 kV and higher transmission towers; and besides those, the design, construction, installation and maintenance of polygonal towers at 110 kV OHTL CHP-23 – Tsentralnaya; the diagnostics of the fiber-optic in the groundwire or phase-cable of the power transmission line.

The collective report  of the Chief engineer Yakubchik V.V. and the Department head Grishenkov N.P. of Mobile Mechanical Department #87, the affiliate of OAO Zapadelectrosetstroj “The construction of the elevated supports in the line sections where the constructed OHTL passes over the forest, wiring of FOL (OPGW), wiring of FOL (OPGW) passing over the railways”.

A very important issue about bird protection was raised in the report “The installations to protect birds from the electric shock on OHTL. Protecting structures and their use” by the leading engineers of OHTL department of AO Sredazenergosetprojekt Makoveeva T.S and Kosolapova S.N.

“Engineering design problems of 110 kV OHTL spun concrete towers” were revealed in the report by the Head of the sector Romanov K.P. of PO Energozhelezobetononvest.

The Chief specialist Kustova O.V. and the Group head Kozhevnikov R.V. from Leningradprojekt shared their experience in the report “Rewiring the sections that pass over the Votkinskoe water reservoir with high-temperature proof conductors. Whether the system ready for the innovations?”.

On the 14th December according to the seminar program the participants were taken to the excursion to the acting 330kV OHTL NPP – Stolbtsy. A section of OHTL that passes over the forest (Volozhinsk region).

The Chief constructor of the Power Transmission Lines department, the developer of the elevated supports Lukianovich A.V. answered the questions of the participants.

The questions discussed at the seminar, the advanced experience in the design and construction of 35 kV and higher OHTL will be implemented in the OHTL construction and operation in Belarusian Energy system.
